La Tempesta, l’etichetta italiana più attenta alla musica che gira sullo Stivale, punta verso il Mondo e lo fa dando vita alla Tempesta International. Aprono le danze i bresciani Aucan, che con questo “Black Rainbow” (secondo album ‘lungo’) pubblicano un vero capolavoro: inutile girare attorno alle parole.

Vero compendio di quanto di meglio abbiamo ascoltato negli ultimi venti anni, dal trip-hop al rise and fall della scena rave, dall’industrial all’hard-techno fino alla recente totale esplosione dubstep. Dimenticati gli esordi caratterizzati dall’accusa di copiare i Battles, gli Aucan mostrano oggi una cifra stilistica policroma (tendente al nero) e assolutamente personale, che va oltre tutti i maestri che l’hanno influenzata e che potrebbero da soli riempire un’intera recensione. Ciò che conta è che “Black Rainbow” è un lavoro originalissimo e dannatamente coinvolgente, portatore di una quantità di scelte e una qualità di suono da lasciare a bocca aperta.

Scritto in totale solitudine dalla band nei boschi del Trentino, registrato in una quindicina di giorni a Padova e masterizzato a Londra dal guru Matt Colton (Depeche Mode, Aphex Twin, James Blake per dire), “Black Rainbow” resta un disco totalmente di Francesco D’Abbraccio, Dario Dasseno e Giovanni Ferliga, tanto è vero che quest’ultimo ha curato pure produzione e missaggio nonché la stesura delle liriche. Se a questo uniamo il fatto che l’editing è appannaggio di Dassena e D’Abbraccio si è occupato dell’artwork del cd abbiamo chiaro come Aucan sia un vero monolite, portatore di uno dei dischi dell’anno, che dico del decennio prossimo venturo.

Brano di apertura è “Blurred”, che si avvale della voce suadente e delle liriche di Angela Kinczly, ci riporta alla Bristol dei primi ’90, quella che gli Aucan non hanno potuto vivere perché troppo giovani eppure rievocano screziandola di Warp. “Heartless” è synth e batteria viscerale mentre la voce che si fa via via più pressante scandisce when everything is planned to be healing in a while, your core-heart is dead. “Red Minoga” scaraventa in pista unendo jungle e richiami Radiohead periodo “Kid-A”, suoni spaziali che si fondono alla successiva “Sound Pressure Level” dove ritmi e voci Beastie Boys invitano ad alzare il volume per godere meglio di tastiere e beat fiammeggianti. “Storm” rallenta un poco per poi riportare l’ascoltatore nello Stige di suoni rave e bombolette spray dilaniate non agitate, bordate di tastiere, sintetizzatori e voci che si accavallano nell’incubo perfetto di “Save Yourself”.

Ma non ci si salva da questo disco tra una “Underwater Music” nella quale sembra davvero di sentir cantare una sirena, la tensione selvaggia che monta “In a Land” e che trova il suo climax nel rap da sturm und drang di “Away!” In chiusura la title-track, arcobaleno malato dopo le tenebre, annuncia che c’è luce proprio laddove nessun uomo sta. Magnifica conclusione di un album magnifico ma forse preludio ad un cambiamento nella musica del Belpaese.

Gli eat the rabbit si formano nel 2007 a Genova: Amedeo Scofone (chitarra, synth e voce), Riccardo Salis (batteria e voce), Federico (basso e voce). MIRANDA è un trio (Piero Carafa suona il basso, Giuseppe Caputo chitarra, voce, synth e sampler, Nicola Villani batteria, drummachine e e synth), attivo a Firenze dal 1999, anche se i tre sono originari di Puglia e Calabria.
Nei diversi anni di attività hanno percorso direzioni musicali differenti. La visione artistica di Miranda è stata definita "radicale e spregiudicata, il loro modo di suonare disgregato e storto, la loro indole alienata e a tratti beffarda" (Blow Up 100).
Hanno all’attivo due albums su fromScratch records (inside the whale del 2003 e rectal exploration del 2006) e uno split cd con i canadesi Creeping Nobodies. Rectal exploration è l’album che li ha fatti conoscere ed apprezzare dalla critica (Rumore li ha definiti “uno dei nomi più interessanti dell'underground italiano”, nov. 07), mentre i loro incendiari show, in Italia e in Francia, ne hanno fatto un piccolo culto della NoWave made in italy.
Nel 2009 pubblicano il terzo album, growing heads above the roof, che arricchisce il suono dei miranda di suoni sintetici e campionati.

Il gruppo di Foligno viene per la prima volta a Genova, dopo aver partecipato al CMJ di New York e al SXSW di Austin, Texas, e in attesa di ritornarci anche nel 2010, vengono a presentarci il loro nuovo EP "Whispers" seconda pubblicazione dopo l’esplosivo esordio intitolato “Be yr own sh*t”. L’ep, che sarà edito in Italia dall’etichetta indipendente To Lose La Track, distribuito nel territorio nazionale da Audioglobe e presto disponibile all’estero e in formato digitale uscira sia nel formato CD/EP che in cassetta in edizione limitata e numerata a mano. Le quattro tracce contenute nella nuova pubblicazione per molti aspetti segnano l’inizio di un nuovo corso nel modo di fare musica da parte del trio, che senza perdere di vista le proprie attitudini e caratteristiche, ha cercato di traghettare il suo suono ruvido e schietto verso un indie rock piu articolato e fantasioso, ricco di oscuri presagi tropical.

Musically the band are tight and the sound they make is beauty, not heavy, not too simplistic, and is a genuine sound that would come on Radio One and would have people clambering for a pen to try and catch the name of the band when the song is finished. CRYSTAL FIGHTERS // I LOVE LONDON

They are crystal fighters, a spanish band settled in London.
This is "I LOVE LONDON" the new single out now on Kitsunè Maison vol 8.

I recently heard them live in Milan, they are something genuinely new, probably the best surprise of 2009. During the recording session Crystal Fighters are: Sebastian, Laure, Mimi, Gilbert and Graham. But only Sebastian Gilbert and Graham play live.

In my opinion Crystal Fighters' sound is the best fusion between the latin drums, percussions and north european electro tunes. They mix Navarra with the South East of England.
Quoting them:

"We are Crystal Fighters.
We make fast dance music with Basque instruments, synthesizers and our voices.
We play new material at every show, come and see us live.
From somewhere high above the old hills of our home,
